Commission Difficulty Tier List: Every Commission Ranked (From Someone Who 5-Starred Them All)
I've done every single commission in this game. Some of them way more times than I'd like to admit. Here's my completely honest, completely biased ranking from easiest to hardest โ with the real reason each one sits where it does.
๐ In this guide
How I ranked these (and why you might disagree)
Let me be upfront about something โ this tier list is based on MY experience. Your mileage may vary depending on what fabrics you've unlocked, what shop upgrades you have, and whether you're good at the sewing mini-game (I'm... okay at it).
My criteria for each tier is pretty simple:
- How many attempts it took me to get 5 stars โ this is the big one. Some commissions I got on the first try. Others... not so much.
- How much gold I wasted failing โ if a commission made me go bankrupt from retries, it goes lower.
- How much I wanted to throw my mouse โ purely subjective but very scientific.
- Whether I needed to look up a guide โ if I had to consult the internet, it drops a tier automatically.
Oh, and one more thing โ I played on default difficulty, no mods, no cheats. So if you're playing on easy mode or using mods, everything shifts up a tier or two. Don't come at me saying "Crowning Glory is easy actually" when you've got a mod that gives you unlimited silk gold. I see you.
S-Tier: So Easy I Could Do Them in My Sleep
1. First Fitting (โ )
Attempts to 5-star: 1
It's the tutorial commission. One fabric slot. If you mess this up, I genuinely don't know what to tell you. I think my cat could 5-star First Fitting by walking across my keyboard.
My strategy: Use literally any fabric. Hit the buttons. Done. You get 5 stars. I'm not even being glib โ it's genuinely that simple.
Why it's S-tier: It exists to teach you the game. It holds your hand so hard it's basically carrying you. And that's fine! We all start somewhere.
2. Summer Breeze (โ โ )
Attempts to 5-star: 1
Summer Breeze is the training wheels commission. Two fabric slots, light requirements, super forgiving quality threshold. I got 5 stars on my first try without even thinking about it.
My strategy: Cotton Pink + Linen Beige. Cheap, covers the Casual + Cute tags, and the quality threshold is low enough that even basic fabrics clear it easily. Don't overthink this one.
Why it's S-tier: This is where I practiced my sewing rhythm. I must have replayed Summer Breeze like 15 times to warm up before hard commissions. It's the comfortable sweatpants of commissions.
3. Garden Party Gown (โ โ )
Attempts to 5-star: 1
Very similar to Summer Breeze but with a garden party vibe. Slightly higher quality bar but still super easy. I used basically the same combo and got 5 stars immediately.
My strategy: Cotton Pink + Chiffon Rose. The Cute + Romantic tag combo is easy to hit, and both fabrics are cheap. Total cost was like $400. That's pocket change.
Why it's S-tier: Garden Party Gown is my go-to commission for Speed Tailor attempts. It's fast, it's easy, and it has enough fabric slots to be interesting without being stressful. If you're going for the Speed Tailor achievement, use this one. You're welcome.
A-Tier: Easy But You Gotta Pay Attention
4. Vintage Tea Dress (โ โ )
Attempts to 5-star: 2
First attempt I got 4 stars because I forgot about the color requirement. Classic me โ focusing on style tags and completely ignoring that the commission asked for a specific color. Once I actually READ the requirements, it was fine.
My strategy: Lace Cream + Cotton Pink. Covers Elegant + Cute + Vintage tags. The trick is making sure you hit 25%+ in the required color โ I keep forgetting that part.
Why it's A-tier: Not hard, but it punishes you for not reading. If you're the type who skips dialogue and just starts sewing, this commission will humble you real quick. Read the requirements, tailor. Read them.
5. Winter Waltz (โ โ โ )
Attempts to 5-star: 2
Winter Waltz was the first commission where I actually had to think about my fabric choice. The Elegant + Formal tag combo requires at least one nicer fabric, and the winter theme means you want darker, richer colors.
My strategy: Velvet Black + Lace White. Black velvet gives you Royal + Majestic, white lace gives you Elegant + Formal. This combo hits all the tags and the quality averages around 89. Comfortable 5 stars.
Why it's A-tier: You need to have unlocked Velvet Black (or at least Satin Blue) to do this well. If you're still in the early game with only basic fabrics, this jumps up to B-tier. It's a gear check disguised as a commission.
6. First Fitting (Hard Mode) (โ โ โ )
Attempts to 5-star: 3
Wait, First Fitting again? Yeah, there's a harder version of it that unlocks later. Same commission, cranked-up requirements. The quality bar goes from "basically free" to "actually try please."
My strategy: Upgrade to Silk White + Lace Cream. The quality jump from basic fabrics to mid-tier ones is enough to clear the higher threshold. Still very doable, just slightly more expensive.
Why it's A-tier: It's a difficulty spike that catches you off guard. You think "oh I know First Fitting, this'll be easy" and then the quality bar slaps you in the face. But once you adjust, it's fine.
B-Tier: Okay Now We're Actually Trying
7. Masquerade Ball (โ โ โ )
Attempts to 5-star: 4
Masquerade Ball was where the game stopped being cozy and started being a real challenge. Four fabric slots, multiple tag requirements, and a quality threshold of 88+. I failed this one three times before I figured out the right combo.
My strategy: Velvet Black + Brocade Red + Silk Gold + Lace Cream. Yeah, all four slots with premium fabrics. It's expensive (around $3,200 in materials) but it covers every tag the commission needs: Majestic, Royal, Elegant, Formal, Romantic. Nukes the quality requirement.
Why it's B-tier: The difficulty isn't in figuring out WHAT to use โ it's in affording it. This commission is a gold sink. If you're broke, you're stuck. I had to go grind Summer Breeze five times just to afford the fabrics for one Masquerade Ball attempt. Painful.
8. Golden Jubilee (โ โ โ โ )
Attempts to 5-star: 5
Golden Jubilee was the first commission that made me feel like the game was actively working against me. The Royal + Majestic + Golden color requirement is brutal. You need to hit golden color at 30%+ AND maintain a 90+ quality average? With only 3 fabric slots? Come on.
My strategy: Silk Gold (60%) + Brocade Red (25%) + Tulle Ivory (15%). The silk gold carries the color requirement, brocade red adds the Majestic tag, and tulle pushes the Elaborate stat just enough. Quality comes in at 91, barely clearing the 90 threshold.
Why it's B-tier: It took me 5 attempts and I was tweaking percentages by 2-3% each time like a maniac. But once I found the combo, it was repeatable. The challenge is discovery, not execution. Still, 5 attempts is 5 attempts.
C-Tier: I Cried a Little
9. Royal Wedding (โ โ โ โ )
Attempts to 5-star: 7
Oh, Royal Wedding. The commission that made me question why I bought this game. White + Gold color requirements, Formal + Elegant + Royal tags, quality threshold of 93, and 4 fabric slots that all need to pull their weight. This one took me an entire evening.
My strategy: Silk Gold (40%) + Lace Cream (30%) + Tulle Ivory (20%) + Brocade Red (10%). The brocade red is risky โ it can throw off the color balance โ but without it, I couldn't hit the Royal tag. The percentages need to be precise. Like, annoyingly precise.
Why it's C-tier: Seven attempts. SEVEN. I spent over $15,000 in failed attempts on this one commission. My shop was basically empty for a week. Was it worth it? ...Yeah, actually. That 5-star notification felt incredible. But I'm not doing it again.
10. Midnight Gala (โ โ โ โ )
Attempts to 5-star: 6
Midnight Gala is Royal Wedding's evil cousin. Same difficulty tier, but the color requirement is BLACK + SILVER, which is harder to hit than White + Gold. There are way fewer silver-colored fabrics than golden ones.
My strategy: Velvet Black (45%) + Satin Blue (25%) + Lace White (20%) + Chiffon Rose (10%). The satin blue has a slight silver sheen that counts toward the silver color requirement. Took me forever to figure that out. The chiffon rose is there purely for the Romantic tag โ without it, I was stuck at 4 stars every time.
Why it's C-tier: The silver color requirement is a trap. I wasted three attempts trying to use actual silver-colored fabrics (there are basically none). Turns out, fabrics with a "sheen" property can count toward metallic color requirements. Who knew? Not me, obviously, until attempt 4.
D-Tier: The Ones That Broke Me
11. Crowning Glory (โ โ โ โ โ )
Attempts to 5-star: 8
Crowning Glory. The final boss of commissions. Adora's last request. Quality threshold 95 (NINETY-FIVE). White AND Gold at 25%+ each. Three style tags: Elaborate, Formal, Elegant. Four fabric slots. This commission made me lose my mind, find it again, and lose it once more for good measure.
My strategy: I wrote an entire separate guide for this one because it's too much to cover here. Short version: Silk Gold + Lace Cream + Tulle Ivory, 45/35/20 split. Check the Crowning Glory complete guide for the full breakdown.
Why it's D-tier: I went to bed at 2 AM after seven 4-star attempts. Seven. I was tweaking fabric percentages by 5% increments, trying increasingly unhinged combos. I tried Velvet Black on a white and gold commission at one point. I was not well. But that 8th attempt? That 5-star popup? I literally threw my hands up and scared my cat off the desk. Worth it. Barely.
My commission stats (proof I suffered)
Here's the raw data from my playthrough, in case you think I'm exaggerating:
Yes, I spent $47,000 on failed attempts. Yes, I could have just looked up a guide earlier. No, I don't want to talk about it.
If I had to rank them in one sentence
From easiest to hardest: First Fitting โ Summer Breeze โ Garden Party Gown โ Vintage Tea Dress โ Winter Waltz โ First Fitting Hard โ Masquerade Ball โ Golden Jubilee โ Midnight Gala โ Royal Wedding โ Crowning Glory.
Print that out. Tape it to your monitor. When you're stuck on Golden Jubilee at 2 AM wondering if you should just give up, remember: it gets worse. Crowning Glory is coming. And you will survive it. Probably.
If you disagree with my rankings, honestly? Fair enough. Difficulty is subjective. Some people found Royal Wedding easier than Midnight Gala because they had better gold fabrics. Some people breezed through Masquerade Ball because they were already swimming in money. Your experience will vary based on your build and playstyle.
But if you think Crowning Glory isn't the hardest commission in the game, you haven't played it yet. Trust me. It's coming for you. And when it does? Come back and read my full Crowning Glory guide. It'll save you at least 6 of my 8 attempts.
Good luck out there, fellow tailor. You're gonna need it. ๐งต๐ช
